The SIT-UP Awards is a new award being launched at the Edinburgh Fringe to reward and support theatre to achieve greater social impact.
It is an initiative of the UK registered charity Changing Ideas Limited
The following have made it happen:-
David Graham is a retired businessman and active philanthropist. Based in London and Edinburgh, he is a Fringe angel and festival fan – enjoying 75 shows in 2017. One play in particular caught David off guard and captured his imagination – Adam challenged him and changed his opinions. David was struck at that moment to do something, but there was no obvious route for action. This award and initiative is the result of that experience.
Robert Iles is the co-founder of UK Theatre Web, the UK's oldest theatre website and largest performing arts archive. Robert has been involved with amateur and fringe theatre for over 30 years including competitive drama as actor, backstage, playwright and director. Robert is a regular theatre critic in and around Bristol, London and at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Alice Millest works to support charities, enterprises and philanthropists to creatively and effectively achieve social change. She believes passionately in the powerful role art can play in the lives of people, their communities and our society. Alice is a Trustee of the charity theatre company Clean Break and youth-led initiative Art Against Knives.
